Why I built it

Hi :) My name is Yani Bogdanov, and I’ve always thought the world was missing a mini-game for predicting World Cup results. Just kidding. The truth is that FIFA doesn’t have a prediction game this year, which is strange because it’s part of the ritual surrounding major tournaments. It’s kind of really cool to be proven right, to have a league with your friends, coworkers, or community, and for everyone to know it.

When I first felt the need to create a game like this, I thought to myself-isn’t it unfair that the person who predicts Germany will beat CuraΓ§ao gets the same points as the person who took a risk and predicted Cape Verde would beat Spain? Then I remembered that life isn’t fair, and I felt better... for two minutes. There’s no way I can leave things like this, but for such a calculation of β€œfairness” and probability, I had to turn to man’s best friend-gambling. Sports bookmakers make their living not because you can’t predict the matches to save your life, but because they calculate the probability of an event occurring with super precision. That’s why the odds are the basis for scoring in the game. A small victory for justice. Maybe my idea is a good one.

JosΓ© Mourinho: if you died by your ideas, you are stupid.

The truth is, until a few months ago, I wouldn’t have even considered taking on such a task, because I know it requires complex calculations, to design several scoring systems, which would need to be tested against each other and also against the BORING AND UNFAIR scoring systems of other result prediction platforms. So this whole process is quite complex, and as much as I love my friends, I wouldn’t spend hundreds of hours on complex calculations. God bless artificial intelligence, which helped me with tasks that were beyond my capabilities.

Check out the site; I’m convinced you’ll like it. I think the project turned out pretty well, and the best part is that it will keep getting better. Something very important to me is that people actually have fun, so now that I’ve sorted out the front end and the scoring, I can focus on aspects of the game that will make it more entertaining. I have some ideas, but I’m open to hearing yours too. Feel free to send me a message on Instagram at @yanibogdanov if you have any suggestions, questions, or if you’ve noticed something off on the site.

Patrice Evra: I love this game!

Men get poetic when they love something. Maybe it’s obvious.
